We had a lot to get off our chests after the big move (see The Story for more details), but we weren't ready to share. Writing a book was on our radar, but we hadn't fully processed the situation we had just experienced. I️t took us several months to stop feeling anxiety and to get out of the funk. Once we dove into it (nearly 9 months later), we had a new perspective and more defined goal. Some research led us to the decision to create single-topic volumes instead of a large cookbook that would have had to compete in an already saturated market. We happened to be back on dry land for an extended period of time and had access to a remote internet-less cabin. The test baking, photo shoots and writing began. To avoid letting obsessive editing take over family life, each of us took our turn focusing on the book while the other took charge of household responsibilities and children. Cabin life provided endless opportunities for outdoor activities so there was no shortage of entertainment. About halfway through the project, life happened and we put it on hold, pushing our launch date back. Doing so opened up our schedule and gave us time to create some of the best memories with our kids, and land-dwelling family & friends.
We also took that time to test the market, to see how much potential our product-to-be had, which led us to our marketing strategy. The short break brought a freshness to the entire project, once we sat back down to finish up. We then finalized details, proofed it and sent the book flying through cyberspace! Starting in January 2018, Legacy Lore Vol. 1 Bagels softcovers and eBooks available for purchase online! Click to purchase.
