Having purchased a .62 acre property in the Arkansas countryside next to family, complete with a well, electric and structure (loosely speaking), we have finally found a spot of dirt to call "home." Though we will continue to travel, and remain mostly nomadic, we will indeed have a place to return to, lay our heads, and put seeds in the ground. As stated before, the structure (consisting of a single-wide trailer that had been added onto on all four sides) was in extreme disrepair. We decided it best to tear down and rebuild on the property. The kids had a blast running around the property and helping out with clean up. Current plans for the 890 sq. ft. home will consist of half shipping container/half traditional timber frame construction. There will be three bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, utility closet and living room. Plans also include a solar composting toilet, cellar, outdoor wood-fired oven/kitchen, and will entirely be off the grid via solar power. Our little land retreat also has plans for a small vineyard, forge and garden patch. And recently Orli talked me into building her a small art studio for her to draw and paint. She may have to share with her mommy but there should be room on the property to make it happen. Zion is also pushing to make a live steam railroad track on the property, complete with a trestle across the fence to his papa's house so he can ride it over anytime he pleases. However, the building of the house is on hold, for now, as we are committed to exploring the Bahamas on a 75-day expedition! Details on that to come!
